‘Social enterprise’ is the new must-have brand for voluntary agencies wanting to prosper under the Coalition government and ’social investment’ is all the rage, held out as the antidote to austerity. But these are slippery ideas and promoted by a Government that is hell bent on cutting public services, contracting out what is left and leaving the ‘Big Society’ to fill any gaps left in the process. As a contribution to our Inquiry into the Future of Voluntary Services, we are preparing a critical position paper on the issues involved and we are calling for evidence to help us with this task.
A brief description of the background is available to download here, which also lists some of the issues and questions that we hope to address. If you have views and experiences to offer we want to hear from you. Please contact Les Huckfield who is preparing the position paper – les@huckfield.com
