NCIA needs your input for a new project on resourcing voluntary action. In the face of cuts, inappropriate government policies and increased competition how do people find the resources to keep going with activities that help us enjoy each others’ company and join in activities – whether simple conviviality, leisure, solidarity and assistance, personal or social change?
NCIA wants to create space for voluntary action to flourish again as part of our democracy. A small step towards that is talking amongst ourselves and sharing our ideas about what we need to keep going.
If you would like to join the conversation, please read our short discussion paper, answer us back by posting comments, get in touch if you can contribute examples or would like to be interviewed.
Questions to think about to get started:
- What are the things you need to keep going? [people, money, premises, computers, travel expenses, information & advice, what else…?]
- Where do you get the things you need to keep going? [do you get small grants, share office equipment or space, swap ideas with others or have someone with experience to talk to, have enough people to do the work?]
- What are the most important things that help you keep going? What is missing?
- What would you say to other people in your position about how to keep going?
- What would you like to do to continue this conversation
